Dance Concert Tix On Sale Now!

a little background info...
This "festival of dance," as it has been called, is a full-fledged concert designed to bring a heightened awareness to the mission of the non-profit organization: to improve the health and education status of children of African descent, throughout the Diaspora. The concert will feature internationally acclaimed ensembles such as Asase Yaa African-American Dance Theatre, Omi Yesa, The Gloria Eve Performing Arts Foundation, Purelements, and The Seewe African Dance Company. First Child Society (FCS) will also honor community leaders John Watusi Branch (Executive Director, Afrikan Poetry Theatre, Inc.) and Andrew P. Jackson (Executive Director, The Langston Hughes Community Library and Cultural Center, Queens Public Library).

Held at York College for the past four years, the event will take place there again. The address is 94-20 Guy R. Brewer Boulevard, between Archer and Liberty Avenues (in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, NY).

When asked about the significance of this milestone year, Nana K. Owusu Aboagye, I Sankofahene, founder of FCS, stated, We are very pleased and excited about this years show. I'm sure the performances will be electric! Every year there are challenges in bringing this level of high quality performances to the community. However, it has always been more than worth our efforts and this year will be no different. Our five years have been amazing and we are looking forward to many more.

Starting Today...I Kknow You Wanna Grub

If y'all like to eat like I like to eat check this out from Washington Heights own Mr. Vasquez!

Hey All:

I know coming from me this is a little strange, but its one of those few opportunities that you have nothing to lose and all to gain....and wanted you all to take advantage.. let me know if your coming thru..

We are once again, delighted to invite you to join us and FREE dining courtesy of our 2nd Annual Taste of Washington Heights and Inwood (TWHI), scheduled for Monday, June 18th, 2007. The first Taste of Washington Heights and Inwood became the most highly talked about food-related event in Northern Manhattan. We plan on making this second year even bigger and better by extending it into a week long culinary celebration of Northern Manhattan.

As you may already know, the TWHI is organized to complement the launch of the “Northern Manhattan Dining Guide” (now in its 4th printing), which serves as an updated survey of the best local eateries in the area. This year’s event will mimic the previous epicurean extravaganza by gastronomically transporting the attendees to different regions of the globe, but will also serve as the kick off for TWHI Week; a week long opportunity to enjoy pre-fixed meal specials, discounts and other promotional activities at various Northern Manhattan eateries.
